ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s top civil and military officials met on Wednesday, a day after five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed in a suicide attack.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir ordered a thorough joint investigation and utilization of all state resources to apprehend the culprits of Besham attack.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir calls the safety of Chinese citizens of paramount importance, pledging that armed forces will not leave any stone unturned to safeguard foreign nationals.
The top general reiterated the army’s resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism afflicting Pakistan. He said the nation fought war on terror for a couple of decades and defeated the nefarious designs of Pakistan’s adversaries.
In wake of the recent terror wave, Gen Munir remarked that enemies of Pakistan once again underestimated the resilience and grit of the state.
Forces will continue its fight against terrorism until every terrorist threatening the country and its people, especially foreign citizens like the Chinese nationals contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity, is eliminated, COAS noted.
PM vows to bring to justice perpetrators of Shangla attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.
The premier emphasized the strong bond between Pakistan and China and praised the swift response of law enforcement and locals in saving lives during the attack. A thorough joint investigation will be conducted.
The meeting participants reiterated their commitment to eradicate terrorism from the country and expressed concerns about terrorist sanctuaries across borders, advocating for a regional approach to combat terrorism.
