Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has inaugurated a cutting-edge media studio at the historic NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi. Named the Pak-Türkiye Media Centre, the studio will facilitate online education and offer specialized diploma programs in media-related fields.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by distinguished guests, celebrated this collaborative milestone between Türkiye and Pakistan. Speaking at the event, TİKA Department Head Dursun Ali Yaşacan emphasized the agency’s commitment to advancing media education in Pakistan, highlighting similar projects recently launched in Islamabad. “We are delighted to provide this modern facility to one of Pakistan’s most historic universities,” Yaşacan remarked. Turkish Consul General Cemal Sangu underscored the longstanding friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan, expressing optimism that the media centre would strengthen ties further.
“This initiaative reflects our shared history and our vision for a collaborative future,” he said. NED University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi expressed gratitude to TİKA for making the institution’s dream of a media studio a reality. “This studio will revolutionize how we approach online and remote education,” he stated.
The opening ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting event and a live broadcast with prominent figures, including Vice-Chancellor Lodhi, Pro Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Tufail, TİKA Karachi Coordinator Halil İbrahim Başaran, and other dignitaries. The Pak-Türkiye Media Centre will serve as a hub for remote learning and training in media production, ranging from equipment handling to film-making.
This initiative is part of TİKA’s broader efforts to empower Pakistan’s media sector, which includes training media professionals, providing equipment to the Türkiye-Urdu News Service, and supporting institutions like Radio Pakistan and the National Press Club.
