ISLAMABAD – The opposition parties decided to further expand their anti-government alliance and decided to visit Sindh on Saturday (today), the sources close to the development said.
The opposition parties also speeded up their efforts for the crucial meetings and contacts for the grand opposition alliance.
“The members of the opposition alliance will camp in Sindh as Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ain-e-Pakistan members are set to depart for Sindh on Saturday (today). The important meetings will be held to strengthen their alliance during the three-day visit,” said the sources.
“The opposition alliance will also meet the leaders of Grand Democratic Alliance while opposition leaders will also hold talks with Jiye Sindh leader Ayaz Latif Palijo in Hyderabad,” said the sources.
They said that opposition delegation will include Mahmood Achakzai, Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Akhunzada Hussain and leaders from BNP-Mengal and MWM.
PTI’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja will also be part of the delegation.
The opposition alliance will engage with the business community and bar associations.
The meetings with PTI Karachi office-bearers are also scheduled.
Moreover, the opposition leaders will hold discussions with members of the journalist community during their three-day visit.
Earlier, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) stated that the certain factions are troubled by reports of the party joining the opposition alliance and are spreading baseless news.
JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri said that the same elements disturbed by JUI-Fs participation in the opposition alliance are responsible for circulating false reports.
He emphasized that even without holding a leadership position, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is playing a crucial role in the opposition alliance. His leadership does not depend on any formal position, and his inclusion in the alliance will further strengthen the opposition.
Aslam Ghauri added that the party is gradually moving toward the Grand Alliance, and such opposing statements are actually reducing divisions within the opposition.
He also claimed that after Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s speech in parliament, a smear campaign has been launched against him, stating that the nation is well aware of where these “seasonal opportunists” are being mobilized from.
