Directs officials concerned to ensure strict monitoring of Corona SOPS

Amraiz Khan

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday took notice of the hike in transport fares being charged from people heading for their hometowns to celebrate Eidul Azha with their families. “We will not allow transporters to overcharge passengers at any cost.”

The chief minister instructed officials of the transport department and administrators to visit bus stands and monitor the fares in all big and small cities.

The chief minister also directed the Commissioners and deputy commissioners to take strict action against people charging fares higher than the fixed prices.

Transporters usually increase fares every year before Eid, forcing people to pay exorbitant fares or spend the festival away from their families.

Travellers have complained of a 50% hike in the fares. The CM asked the Commissioner and DCs to visit bus stands and initiate action against transporters fleecing the passengers.

“No one will be allowed to exploit the passengers”, he emphasised and asked the transport department to constantly monitor the public transport fares.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of lives in accident at Taunsa Road in DG Khan and extended sympathies to the bereaved families. The Punjab government fully shares the grief of the affected families, he said.

The CM sought a report from the commissioner and RPO about the accident and directed the best treatment for the injured. The responsible persons be identified after investigation for taking legal action, he said.

Meanwhile, an emergency has been imposed in DG Khan hospitals.
Meanwhile, due to important engagements of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the foundation stone laying ceremony of Ghulab Devi underpass and Lahore bridge expansion project was postponed and a new date will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed monitoring teams to conduct continuous checking of markets and other places across the province to ensure strict compliance of corona SOPs.

The CM directed that legal action be initiated in case of any violation. He further instructed to constitute special monitoring teams during Eid holidays as protection of lives of the people is important and every step will be taken in this regard.

The CM regretted that corona cases are increasing due to the non-observance of SOPs and the number of patients is also rising in hospitals due to negligence.

The fourth corona wave has started and the citizens should follow instructions to overcome it. In the wake of an increase in corona cases, smart lockdowns and other restrictions can be intensified, concluded the CM.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed the CMIT to hold a comprehensive investigation into DG Khan road accident to ascertain causes and sought a report about the accident within three days. The inquiry report should unveil facts and fixing the responsibility, he added.
