Fire breaks out at Mayo Hospital

A fire broke out in Mayo Hospital here after an X-ray machine burst into flames.
According to hospital management and rescuers, the fire broke out in the orthopaedic Ward of Mayo Hospital after an X-ray machine caught fire

The fire spread from the room in which the machine was installed and engulfed the adjacent room within no time. On information, Rescue 1122 fire-fighter and fire brigade of the district government rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire with a little struggle.

Patients were shifted to other wards to avoid loss of life. According to hospital authorities, no casualty was reported in the incident.

The rescuers informed that the fire erupted due to a short circuit in an x-ray machine in the ward and spread immediately. However, timely efforts helped avoid huge losses, they added.

The hospital management has launched an investigation to ascertained cause of the fire.
