In a shocking incident amid regional tensions between Pakistan and Iran, at least nine Pakistani workers were killed by unidentified attackers in southeastern Iran.
Horrific clips shared online show the dead bodies of non-Iranian residents in a house located in Sirkan neighbourhood of Saravan city. Initial reports suggest that three others also suffered injuries in the incident.
Attackers gunned down Pakistani labourers in an auto repair workshop. Five of the deceased are said to be from different areas of Alipur as the group members had been working in neighboring countries for several years.
Pakistan’s envoy to Tehran condemned the heinous attack, urging the Iranian government to extend full cooperation with Pakistani authorities on the matter.
A post shared on his site said “Deeply shocked by the horrifying killing of 9 Pakistanis in Saravan. The embassy will extend full support to bereaved families. Counsel Zahidan is already on his way to the incident site & hospital where injured are under treatment. We called upon Iran to extend full cooperation in the matter.”
