ALTHOUGH Qazi Faiz Isa belongs to a distinguished family from Pishin in Balochistan, there has always been one controversy or the other about him, or his family.
Born on October 26, 1959 in Quetta,he is the son of the late Qazi Mohammad Isa, who was in the forefront of the Pakistan Movement, and grandson of Qazi Jalaluddin, the Prime Minister of Kalat State, prior to Independence Qazi Faiz Isa about whom a review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan,it is difficult to assert or predict about the result of that petition.
But only a couple of days ago, one came to learn about strange kind of stories about Faiz Isa; father, his elder brother Azmat Isa.
In a report, written by Dr Sultan Mehmood, who was a senior officer looking after the Balochistan Rural Suport Programme (BRSP), where he worked with Azmat Isa.
He writes that he knew the family well. In Quetta he worked with Azmat Isa. “I used to visit the Qazi Isa family in Pishin more often.
His auntie Jennifer Moosa, a British lady was wife of Qazi Moosa, was two-time minister in Balochistan, but Azmat Isa’s corruption cases were too well to recount.
It was because of his corruption that the Paris Consortium, an aid to Pakistan Club had to suspend its programme because of Azmat, Qazi Isa, was close to Quaide Azam, a front ranker in the Independence movement for the homeland of Muslims of the subcontinent.
He was also Pakistan’s ambassador to Brazil. He wrote that the British who left India after the second World War, deliberately had left people around Quaide Azam to work for British as to what the Founder of Pakistan was doing.
There were few other traitors like him. The Quaide Azam, he said was not moved to Ziarat because of Tuberculosis of which Quaide was suffering from.
His personal Physician Col Ilahi Bux had informed the Father of the nation of the then deadly disease. People posted to keep eye on Quaide Azam were soon exposed.
Mr Jinnah was known to have shifted to a hilly place for better climatic conditions, which worked sort of a santatorim,but according to DR Sultan, the Quaid was in a kind of house arrest. These people were kept close to Quaid to keep UK and USA about Jinnah’s activities.
The Quaid had sent several applications to Pakistan’s first prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan but to no avail. The Quaid had probably come to know of the job assigned to these people.
He was annoyed with Qazi Isa, and also Liaquat Ali Khan, and told his physician Col Ilahi Bux to ensure that after his death neither of the two Qazi Isa or Liaquat Ali Khan should see his face after death.
Some experts feel that some people in Judiciary were playing their own power game to protect its vested interests.
Discrediting Faez Isa’s hype as a revolutionary dissenter and champion of constitutionalism.
Whoever attacks military institutions is made a hero – personality cult (e.g Zulfiqar Bhutto, Iftikhar Chaudhry etc), Judiciary only protecting its elite while ignoring millions of cases of ordinary Pakistanis and not taking necessary judicial reforms.
Ms Zarina Isa – FBR Summary of Report
Given the evidence provided in the FBR Summary report, it is evident that Faiz Isa and family is guilty of concealment, lying and deception of asset, all indicating towards corruption and money laundering through official position of power as a justice.
Following is the evidence:-
In the tax proceedings, Zarina has changed her stance from claiming 50% investment in the London properties, to claiming responsibility for 100 % investment – tax proceedings against her children were dropped.
London properties were declared for the first time on 03 January 2020 while properties were purchased in 2004 and 2013.
The value of properties doesn’t match the wealth declared and funds available with the tax payer.
Total value of London Properties – Rs 104, 680, 020 Total cumulative income declared for tax years 2007 to 2012— Rs 9, 375, 93• The claim of agriculture income (tax exempt) was never declared in any tax return, nor any receipts have been provided.
No justification of the source of deposits in the foreign currency bank accounts, Using the foreign currency bank accounts ordinance 2001, enquiries have been avoided, however the ordinance only provides freedom to operate foreign currency accounts, and doesn’t give exemption on enquiries.
The joint foreign currency account with husband justice Qazi Faiz Isa in MCB Karachi was never declared until 2018.
Sounds scandalous, but it is on record that that Qazi Isa was accused of smuggling of ship-load of sugar, which was first count of smuggling against Qazi Isa, and later diamonds were found from his pocket at Karachi Airport, because of which his ambassadorship was also terminated.
