On the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, President University of Management and Technology (UMT) Ibrahim Hasan Murad urges the global community to strengthen efforts against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade. He said thatthese threats not only harm individuals and families but also destabilize societies and fuel criminal activities worldwide. Murad said that these two not only threaten our societies but also undermine the potential and well-being of our youth and future generations.

Ibrahim Murad highlighted the need for comprehensive strategies focusing on prevention, rehabilitation, and education for our youth.

He calls for enhanced public awareness and early intervention to prevent substance abuse, accessible rehabilitation services to aid recovery, and educational initiatives to empower youth with the knowledge to make informed choices. These combined efforts, he asserts, are crucial to protecting communities and fostering a drug-free future.

In addition, President UMTexpressed that UMT has the honor to be Pakistan’s 1st drug free campus. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in combating illicit trafficking and drug abuse. Ibrahim Murad further emphasized for stronger border controls, improved law enforcement capabilities, and better intelligence-sharing to disrupt drug supply chains.

Commending the ongoing efforts of law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and community activists, Former Minister calls for renewed commitment to building a safer, healthier, and more just society free from the scourge of drugs.
