The visit of any dignitary in a country not only marks an important occasion for the country concerned, but at times it influences the regional politics as well. It also equally impacts on the repute of visiting dignitary/ country if the visit seems to ratify the controversial policies of the host country. The visit of US president is surely a special event having far reaching consequences for the country and the region. The maiden visit of Mr Trump to India tentatively scheduled from 24-26 February is happening when Indian is burning in the fire kindled by Mr Modi and his BJP.
The people of IHK are locked down for almost seven months with no civic services, food and human rights. They were already subjected to inhuman treatment and being blinded by pellet guns since the time Modi came in power. However, they at least had their own identity and some semblance of human rights, which BJP government has taken away by illegally revoking Article 370 and 35-A. The RSS, from the outset, has been against all her non-Hindu minorities and had vowed to either convert or eliminate them from India. The BJP, which is political wing of RSS, has started implementing its age old dream since it came into power. The minorities, including Christians, Muslims, Dalits etc, have been treated inhumanely by RSS goons with total impunity.
Indian Held Kashmir being the only Muslim majority state, though disputed, could not be tolerated by the extremist RSS. Kashmir is the oldest unresolved dispute in the World, and unilateral changing of its status by India is the vilification of UN resolutions. The treatment meted out to the residents of IHK especially since 5 August 2019 and silence of major World powers/leaders is an enigma and speaks of their dual standards and apathy to the plight of Muslims. After getting emboldened by the muted and apathetic response of the World leaders, Mr Modi proceeded further to implement age old agenda of RSS. He didn’t confine to the Muslims of IHK, rather he has embarked upon ruining the future of Muslims and other minorities of India by introducing CAA, NRC and NPR.
The people of India, especially Muslims, who have been living in the country since ages/ were born here, have to now prove that they are Indians. Anyone failing to prove would be declared “Illegal Migrant” and has to spend rest of his life in detention centers, construction of which has already started. It’s very difficult to prove the citizenship for poor homeless, most of which are Muslims, and illiterate people. So for lacs of people have already been left out in NRC list in Assam alone. India is also trying to interfere in her neighboring countries by offering Indian Citizenship through CAA to their non-Muslim population. The CAA provides citizenship on the basis of religion and specifically excludes Muslims from it; on the other hand millions of Indians are at the risk of losing the citizenship of their birthplace.
Against CAA, NRC and NPR, not only the Muslims rather all sensible Indians, except RSS supporters, are expressing their concerns and registering protests, but the Indian Government is not moved at all. In the presence of continued illegal and immoral siege of IHK and inhuman treatment of protesters, who are protesting for their survival, the visit of the President Trump looks strange. Mr Trump represents the country which champions “Human Rights” and “Freedom of Speech”, his visit to India at a time when India is grossly violating both would even negate the sentiments of his own people. If, Mr Trump still visits India due to economic compulsions, the oppressed people of India, IHK and US citizens expect him, the least, to talk to India to stop inhuman treatment of her minorities and abide by the UN resolutions on Kashmir.
