IN the backdrop of recent spike in terrorist attacks in the country including most recent one in Kech area of Balochistan where at least ten soldiers were martyred, National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf held some important meetings with Afghan authorities in Kabul on Saturday which clearly indicate serious concerns Pakistan has over terrorism emanating from the Afghan soil.

The Interim Afghan government has reportedly assured Pakistan that Afghan soil would not allowed to be used against neighbouring countries including Pakistan.

These assurances were earlier provided by new Afghan set-up in recent months and we do not doubt their intentions yet fact remains that terrorism perpetrated by the TTP is rearing its ugly head again.

After Lahore bomb blast, there has been two terror attacks in Balochistan and authorities believe it is the work of none other than foreign sponsored TTP.

Maintaining coordination with Afghan set-up on security matters is a step in right direction, as it will definitely lead to some positive outcome.

Time has come for interim Afghan government to match its words with actions and stop terrorist outfit from hurting interests of Pakistan.

Better border management is something that our authorities have always emphasised upon in order to check illegal movements of undesirable elements.

Pakistan has almost completed fencing the border with Afghanistan and recent reaction of Afghan set up on it is uncalled for.

Durand Line is a closed and settled issue and whole world community recognises it as an international border.

Hence there should not be any further wrangling on this matter, as it will only divert attention from on-going humanitarian crisis being faced by Afghan people.

The remaining portion of the fence should be completed by our authorities at the earliest to ward off terrorists based in Afghanistan which needs to be eliminated by Afghan authorities for their own sake as well as peace and stability of the region.
