Ministry of Agriculture Punjab, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and PMAS-Arid Agricultural University, Rawalpindi has launched the campaign to increase Wheat Production in Punjab
Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardizi, Vice-Chancellor University of Agriculture, Faisalabad Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (S.I), and Vice-Chancellor PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman jointly started the campaign to increase wheat production in Punjab.
Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said that around 8000 students of Arid Agriculture University will work as vanguards with Punjab Agriculture Department to support farmers in all districts of Punjab to ensure increase in wheat production per acre.
He said that during the campaign, complete guidance will be provided to the farmers regarding the balanced & better use of modern agricultural machinery and equipment with new techniques, fertilizers and seeds.
He further said that PMAS-AAUR will utilize all its resources for the success of the campaign. He urged the students to write down their observations and experiences during the campaign so that a comprehensive strategy can be devised to develop agriculture on modern lines in the future.
In addition, during this campaign training pamphlets and other important materials related to modern technology of wheat production will be distributed amongst the farmers alongwith seminars, road shows and awareness walks, which will not only help farmers to increase their output with the reduction of input cost but will also provide an opportunity to the students to get the understandings of the ground realities.
The initiative of the trio was much applaud by the farmers community which has provided them opportunity to increasing the per acre production with decreasing the input cost by using modern methods and techniques.
