Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid chaired a high-level meeting at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department to take necessary measures to make Tehsil Headquarters (THQs) Hospitals fully functional here on Wednesday.
Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Capt (r) Usman Younis, Special Secretary PSH Mohammad Ajmal Bhatti, Dr AKhtar Rashid and senior officials of the department attended the meeting.
The minister reviewed measure to make the THQs fully functional. The PSH Department secretary apprised the minister of the measures to improve service delivery and the status of available facilities.
The minister said, “The availability of anesthetists and the surgeons must be ensured at every hospital and their performance must be regularly reviewed.
The shortage of staff in these two categories must be immediately addressed at the THQ hospitals and package must be given to THQs staff of far areas on priority basis. The complete status of available surgeons must be prepared.” The Minister further said that anesthetists and surgeons are responsible for patients for the next 24 hours after the surgery.
She added that the government is trying to provide good quality healthcare services at the THQ level.
