MCB, Faysal Bank, Fri-Chiks, Riphah College Campus among 170 sealed in Lahore

LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 170 illegal commercial buildings and commercialization fee defaulter premises during operations in different areas of Lahore on Wednesday.

LDA Town Planning Wing sealed 40 businesses in Gulberg and New Garden Town, 20 on Canal Bank Road, 25 each in Allama Iqbal Town and on Peeco Road, and 60 in Johar Town and Awaisia Housing Scheme.

The sealed premises include MCB, Faysal Bank, Fri-Chiks, Riphah International College Campus, Euro Store, Risen Departmental Store, Chughtai Lab, and American Lycetuff, café, dental clinic, beauty parlors, private hospitals, pharmacies, bakeries, food outlets, grocery stores, private offices and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.

LDA teams demolished five structures and sealed another one during operations against violation of building bylaws in LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme and on Raiwind Road.

LDA Director Town Planning Zone V Shafqat Niaz supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police and heavy machinery.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violation of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialization fee defaulter premises in Lahore.
