Man dies as kite string slits his throat IG police orders crackdown on kite making, flying

In an unfortunate incident, a youth on Sunday lost his life due to loss of blood after a razor-sharp kite string slit his throat in Lahore.

The incident occurred at Shalimar Road in Lahore, where a motorcyclist named Asad, 23, lost his life after a razor-sharp kite string slit his throat.

The deceased was working in a shopping mall, the incident occurred when he was returning home from his job.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the matter and has sought a report from the capital city police officer (CCPO) Lahore.

Kite flying is continuing despite the ban across the province, especially on Fridays and Sundays.

The citizens have urged the concerned authorities to strictly implement the ban on kite flying so road accidents and loss of human lives can be avoided.

The capital city police officer Lahore after taking notice of the increasing incidents of kite flying in the city had made it clear that there is a ban on kite flying and action would be taken against the concerned SHO, where the kite flying is reported.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali on Sunday ordered crackdown against kite flying in the province.

The police chief has directed for action against those involved in making and selling of metal twine and kites.

“Police officials have to give answer if an incident of kite flying and injury to a citizen surfaces again,” the IG Police said.

“The SHO of Shalimar Town has been suspended after a youth died of kite string this morning,” he said.

Rao Sardar Ali also ordered the police department to ensure strict enforcement of the kite flying ban.

Accidents caused by kite flying have reportedly left a youth dead and at least seven other people injured during the ongoing year in Faisalabad but the police have not registered any case.A day earlier, a young man was severely injured in Millat Town after kite string slit his nose.

A motorcyclist died earlier in the year after he lost control over his vehicle due to an injury caused by kite string and it hit a road divider near Sayin Darbar in Ghulam Muhammadabad.
