The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday ordered the government of Punjab to hand a pay cheque to one of the family members of the inspector who died while waiting for the payment of his salaries for 10 years.
During the hearing of the petition filed by deceased Mehmood Ali, the counsel for the provincial government told Justice Shahid Kareem that already some payment had been made to the late inspector while the remaining amount would be paid soon.
Imran Raza Chadhar, representing the petitioner, however, disputed his statement, and said that not a single penny had been paid during the last 10 years. “Despite sickness my client had appeared in the court on the last date of the hearing,” he said, adding, “After the hearing was over, he returned to his hometown in Kasur, but died on the way.
