The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is going to execute more development projects to make the provincial metropolis beautiful.
The LDA has included projects in the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22. Keeping view the rising traffic problems, the decision was taken to build two more underpasses on the direction of the Punjab Chief Minister.
Underpasses have been designed at Akbar Chowk and Samanabad Chowk. LDA’s engineering department started design study of Akbar Chowk.
Two lane underpasses will be constructed on both sides at Akbar Chowk. LDA will complete construction of underpass at Akbar Chowk Junction with its own resources.
The traffic system from Karim Market to Peco Road will be re-modelled through Akbar Chowk Junction. An estimate of Rs1.20 billion has been made for the construction of the underpass. Underpass will benefit 248,000 people directly and indirectly.
An underpass has also been proposed at Samanabad Chowk on Multan Road in view of traffic congestion.
The flyover proposal was rejected due to the elevated track of the Orange train.
