Lahore, Punjab weather update; monsoon rains, gusty winds predicted

LAHORE – Monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday and Thursday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light to moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave affects northwestern parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are predicted at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum and Attock on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday and Thursday, rains and gusty winds are predicted in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Shab, Chinot, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali. Hot and humid weather is predicted elsewhere in the province.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Wednesday and 35-37°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, rain/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in northeast Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Attock and Dera Ghazi Khan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. Maximum temperature in Sahiwal and Bahawalpur was recorded at 40°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 37°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 55 per cent.
