PM Shehbaz, Army Chief attend funeral of martyred Captain Osama bin Arshad

RAWALPINDI – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Tuesday attended the funeral of Captain Osama Bin Arshad who was martyred in a gun battle with militants in Waziristan.

A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Captain Osama embraced martyrdom during a fire exchange between security forces and terrorists.

Funeral prayers of the brave son of soil were offered at Chaklala Garrison Rawalpindi, with country’s top civil and military leaders in presence. Prime Minister of Pakistan, Defence Minister, Information Minister, Chief of Army Staff and large number of serving and retired military officers, soldiers and relatives of Shaheed attended the funeral.

At the occasion, PM Sharif reiterated that these sacrifices restate the resolve to defeat terrorism in all its forms for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan. He said that the nation stands resolute against these foreign-abetted terrorists and their facilitators and these adversaries of Pakistan will be comprehensively defeated through a multi-domain strategy based on a whole-of-the-system approach.

Shaheed will be buried at his native home town where he will be laid to rest with full military honours.
