Lahore, Punjab weather update; monsoon rains, gusty winds likely

LAHORE – Monsoon rains and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents from Arabian Sea penetrates upper parts of Pakistan and will likely strengthen from Wednesday. A trough of shallow westerly wave will likely approach upper parts of the country on Wednesday.

Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Murree, Gallyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal and Noor Pur Thal on Tuesday night and the next two days. Gusty/dusty raising winds are expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Layyah, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan and Khanewal during the period.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Wednesday and 37-39°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, scattered rain-wind/thunderstorms occurred in upper Punjab during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.

Bhakkar remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Maximum temperature in Sargodha was recorded at 45°C, and Bahawalpur at 44°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 52 per cent.
