KP Weather Update: Seven dead as rain piles misery in northern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – At least seven persons were killed and several others suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region during the last 24 hours.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed seven causalities in rain-related incidents.

The heavy rain spells, showers, and incidents of landsliding claimed the lives of citizens. Four of the dead were children while some minors were also injured.

Heavy rainfall and strong winds caused partial damage to several houses in Peshawar, Noshera, Shangla, Banu, and Bajaur.

Met Office predicts continued rain in the plains and ongoing snowfall in the hills of the province over the next 24 hours.

Peshawar Weather Update

Rain is expected in provincial capital over the weekend as a westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of Pakistan. The current weather system will continue for next 24 hours.

Wind blew at 10 kmph while humidity remains over 80percent. The temperature will span between 25-30 degree celsius.

On Saturday, rain-windstorm, and thunderstorm is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Balakot, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Malakand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak. and Waziristan. Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places during the period. Heavyfall may occur in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Abbottabad, Balakot, and Mansehra.

Moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in Upper KP, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir.

Met Office said windstorm, and hailstorm along with lightning may also damage standing crops, loose structures.
