Vice Chancellor, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Dr. Arshad Javid on Sunday said that the university, with a coordination of KP health department, was fighting at frontline against COVID-19 in KP province. In a press release issued here, he said that KMU has been emerged as the largest public sector testing lab of the country.
He said that KMU has established a lab for testing COVID-19 patients due to quick response from a public sector entity. “The lab comprised of 20 PhD faculty and 40 qualified & well trained lab technologists/technicians and minimal support staff. All properly trained for conducting coronavirus tests,” he said.
He said that only five staffers including a faculty member, one technician, receptionist, Naib Qasid and a cook suspected after the reports and have been quarantined properly.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided an additional consignment of 35000 testing kits to the Health Department, KP. The Spokesman on Sunday said that two automatic Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines and three number latest Bio-safety cabinets are provided to the Health Department.
