A metallic kite-string claimed another life in Lahore where a citizen died on the spot when his throat was slit by the string in Harbanspura area on Sunday.

Police reached the spot and took the body of Manzoor in custody and started further investigation.

Lahore police said the deceased was 35 to 40 years old. Lahore police chief Ghulam Mehmood Dogar took notice of the incident while DIG Lahore Police Sajid Kiyani suspended SHO Harbanspura.

Additional IG of Punjab also sought a report from Superintendent Police (Cantt) on the incident.

The kite-flying incidents have not been stopped in the metropolis despite a ban by authorities and multiple cases were reported in recent months where citizens got hurt by metallic strings.

Two days ago, a 33-year-old man was injured due to a kite string at Wahdat Road.

Earlier in March, a Dyal Singh College teacher named Aftab Ahmad died when a metallic kite string ran across his neck near Ichhra on Ferozepur Road when he was on his way to the college in the morning.
