Key aim of universities to conduct research: Governor

Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman has said that the key aim of the universities is to conduct research and there is a need to strengthen the linkage between industry and academia in order to get practical benefit from this research.

Speaking while presiding over the second convocation of Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) on Friday, he said that special attention is being paid to research and teaching in the universities.

Muhammad Balighur Rehman congratulated the students on their outstanding success and appreciated the university teachers for polishing the talent of students. He said that it is a matter of pride that the Government College Women’s University has achieved a prominent position at the national and international level in the recent rankings.

He advised the students to be part of positive activities, develop patience, tolerance and leadership skills. He further said that the students should focus on education and work hard to achieve their goals.

Addressing the convocation, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rubina Farooq informed in detail about the achievements and development projects of the university in the past years. In the convocation, the students of Ph.D., MPhil, MA, MSc and B.S. 80 female students were awarded gold medals and 81 female students were awarded silver medals for achieving a distinguished position in the academic field.

Vice Chancellor Professor, Dr. Rubina Farooq, University Directors and Principal Officers, Syndicate members, Vice Chancellors of various universities, parents and degree holders participated in the convocation.

Later, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rahman reached the residence of party leader Mian Ghulam Hussain Shahid where MNA Mian Abdul Maan, former federal minister Talal Chaudhry and members of assembly and workers of Muslim League Nawaz welcomed him.
