Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) President Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s commitment to addressing business community concerns, particularly by directing Customs Officials to refrain from conducting raids during late hours and resolving glitches in sales tax returns filing caused by controversial SRO350. Expressing appreciation for the Prime Minister’s proactive stance during a recent meeting at CM House in Karachi, President KCCI highlighted the importance of creating a conducive business environment for economic growth and export enhancement. He reiterated the business community’s readiness to collaborate with the government to achieve mutual economic prosperity nationwide. President KCCI welcomed the issuance of a notification to Chief Collector Customs instructing daytime raids on warehouses, with exceptions only when the owner or representative is available.

The notification also mandates inventory documentation in the presence of the owner or their representative and independent witnesses, a long-standing demand by KCCI.The directive to provide an opportunity for presenting legal import/possession documents and ensuring the return of ceased goods based on documented inventory brings relief to affected businessmen. President KCCI emphasized that these measures would mitigate losses incurred during raids and streamline customs procedures.
