ISLAMABAD – Residents in the country’s largest city Islamabad get two weeks times to avoid a 200 percent fine as officials extended deadlines for Vehicle Token Tax.
Excise and Taxation Department in Metropolis extended the deadline for paying vehicle token tax for 15 days, with a new deadline set for January 15, 2025. This is the second time the deadline was revised after revision of the original deadline of December 31, 2024.
With the second extension in deadline, the department warned that failing to meet the new deadline would result in the cancellation of vehicle registrations and a massive 200pc fine. In bid to assist taxpayers, office hours at relevant counters have been extended.
Islamabad Token Tax 2024
For those looking to pay token tax, smart card holders are encouraged to use the Islamabad City app to make convenient tax payments.
The extension follows an increase in a number of defaulters, with many vehicles remaining unregistered due to unpaid token taxes. Despite previous penalties, the department struggled to prompt timely payments, leading to random checks to identify and penalize defaulters.
Meanwhile, vehicle owners are urged to take advantage of extended deadline and avoid facing legal consequences. This decision offers final opportunity for citizens to fulfill their tax obligations and avoid severe penalties.
