ISLAMABAD – Partly cloudy weather with light rain/drizzle is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave will likely affect northeastern parts of the country from tonight.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of Pakistan and very cold in upper parts on Thursday night.
Partly cloudy weather with light rain/light snow may occur at isolated places in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Smog/fog (in patches) will likely persist in most plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh.
On Friday, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of Pakistan and very cold in upper parts. Light rain/light snow may occur in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltsitan, twin cities, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat and adjoining hilly areas.
Smog/ moderate to dense fog (in patches) will likely persist in most plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhunkhwa and upper Sindh.
Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 00-02°C on Friday and -01 to 01°C on Saturday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between -04 to -02°C on Friday and -03 to -01°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts and extremely cold in upper parts of Pakistan during the last 24 hours. Smog/fog (in patches) persisted in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.
Skardu remained the coldest place in Pakistan where the temperature dropped 13°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Leh was recorded at -07°C, Quetta -12°C, Gupis -09°C, Gilgit -08°C, Quetta -06°C, Hunza, Kalat and Ziarat -05°C, and Kalam at -04°C.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 01°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 41 percent.
In Rawalpindi, minimum temperature was recorded at 02°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 27 percent.
