Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather update; rains likely to bring relief from smog

ISLAMABAD – Intermittent rains are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening/night, Friday and Saturday.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a frontal weather system will likely approach upper parts of Pakistan on Thursday evening.

Under the influence of these conditions, scattered rains are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday evening/night and the next two days with occasional gaps.

Light rain is also likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musakhel, Qilla Saifullah, Bhakkar, Layyah and Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday.

The rains will likely provide some relief from the prevailing smoggy conditions in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, upper Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, dense fog will likely develop in the plains of Punjab after the wet spell.

Farmers are advised to manage their activities keeping in view the weather forecast. Travelers and tourists are advised to remain cautious and manage their travelling according to weather forecast.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 10-12°C on Thursday and 11-13°C on Friday.

Rawalpindi’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 12-14°C on Thursday and 13-15°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Pakistan and cold weather in hilly areas during the last 24 hours. Smog/fog prevailed in most districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Leh remained the coldest place in Pakistan where the mercury dropped 04°C below the freezing point.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 11°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 78 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 13°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 62 per cent.
