First time in two years, no Covid-19 related death reported in a day

The auspicious day of March 23, the Pakistan Day, turned out to be a blissful day with regard to the health sector as well, since Pakistan reported no death during the last 24 hours.
According to the health officials, this is the first time that the country reported a day without a Covid-19 related calamity since the pandemic broke out in March 2020.
The National Command & Operation Centre, the nerve centre of the country monitoring the coronavirus situation, recorded 443 new cases of Covid-19 after 34,476 tests conducted during the last twenty-four hours. The coronavirus positivity rate of coronavirus thus stood at 1.28 percent, the NCOC reported saying the signs are quite encouraging and the situation is returning to normalcy.
The NCOC has already scrapped all Covid-19-related sanctions in the country and the government has already announced dismantling of the NCOC in view of almost zero cases of Covid-19.
The District Health Officer (DHO) on Wednesday reported Islamabad too presented a reassuring picture with regard to Covid-19 as only 18 individuals returned positive after 1,367 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate in the city stood at 1.32 percent, the DHO further reported.
Both the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi, continue to see a fall in Covid-19 cases and a day earlier the twin cities saw only 13 new cases.
Officials of the capital administration said that the number of active cases of Covid-19 in the federal capital had reduced to 178 on Tuesday and out of that total, 32 were admitted to hospitals, 30 on oxygen and two on ventilators.
In Rawalpindi, three people tested positive for Covid-19 while five patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering during the last 24 hours in the district.
As per data shared by the Punjab government, the positivity rate was calculated at 0.45pc in a single day in Rawalpindi. A total of 673 samples were collected out of which results of three persons came back positive while 670 people tested negative.
There are 71 active patients in Rawalpindi district out of whom three were in hospitals and 68 isolated at home. According to data, two patients arrived from the cantonment areas and one came from Potohar Town.
According to DHO, Dr Zaeem Zia, all vaccination centres were closed for one day on Wednesday, 23rd March across Islamabad and would resume operation from March 24, Thursday, (today).
