Islamabad, Pakistan weather update; wet spell to continue

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast scattered rains for Islamabad and parts of Pakistan during the next two days.

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting the western and upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist in the upper parts of the country during the next few days.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and partly cloudy weather is expected in most areas of the country while cloudy in the upper parts on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday.

However, rain with snowfall over mountains is expected in Islamabad, Pothohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and northern Balochistan.

Shallow to moderate fog is likely to persist in a few plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Snowfall over the upper parts of the country may affect transportation in the coming days. Tourists are advised to be cautious.

Islamabad’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 02-04 degrees Celsius on Monday and 01-03 C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, cold weather prevailed over most parts of the country and was partly cloudy in the upper parts during the last 24 hours.

Fog/smog prevailed over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country where mercury dropped 08 C below freezing.

In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 03 C.

Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 87 per cent.
