Speakers at a seminar here on Tuesday stressed the need to promote inter-sect and interfaith harmony and peace and tolerance in order to build an inclusive society in Pakistan.
The seminar titled ‘Interfaith Harmony in Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan’ was jointly organized by Paigham-e-Pakistan, Air University and Islamic Research Institute.
IRI Director General Dr Ziaul Haq, Dr Fateh Muhammad Malik, Dr Aftab, Dr Abid Ali, former ambassador Naila Chohan and Christopher Sharaf were prominent among those who spoke on the occasion. A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar.
In their speeches, the speakers maintained that Pakistan can be made strong and prosperous only through unity and brotherhood, adding that all religions and sects should stand together to foil the nefarious designs of the enemies.
They were of the view that only a tolerant society based on the principles of interfaith harmony can ensure social inclusion by providing all citizens equal opportunities to grow irrespective of their religion or faith, adding that interfaith harmony is the way forward towards peace and prosperity in the society in line with the spirit of Paigham-e-Pakistan and Sayaban-e-Pakistan initiatives of the government of Pakistan.
The speakers said that Paigham-e-Pakistan provides an umbrella (Saiban) to protect the country and the nation from all forms of extremism, hatred and violence against the fellow countrymen.
They stressed the need to review country’s educational policy, ensuring training of teachers and Ulema to encourage a culture of respecting other sects and religions as well as their sacred places.
