Indonesian consulate marks 79th Independence Day

The Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi marked the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence with a dignified flag-raising ceremony. Teguh Wiweko, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi, led the event, which honored the nation’s journey under the theme of “Building a New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia.” Indonesian citizens, students, and the local community gathered to participate in the ceremony, observing the occasion with solemnity and respect.

The event was filled with cultural pride, showcasing the rich traditions and diversity of Indonesia. Visitors had the opportunity to experience authentic Indonesian cuisine through a variety of food stalls offering traditional dishes. From savory treats to sweet delights, this celebration was a feast for the senses, bringing the flavors of Indonesia to Karachi.

The event continued with a series of games, such as sack races, tug of war, putting pencils in bottles, and karaoke competitions and the distribution of prizes to the competition’s winners. The games are not for competition but to create an atmosphere of excitement and joy and to maintain mutual friendship with the families of the Indonesian people in Sindh Province.

The event was also attended and participated by Indonesia-Pakistan mixed-married family in Karachi, that build a strengthened harmony between the people of two biggest Moslem countries. Teguh Wiweko as Acting Consul General of Indonesia, expressed his deep pride in honoring Indonesia’s independence which had been fought so hard.

Apart from that, he said that Pakistan and Indonesia have the same Independence Day in August, and prayed that Indonesia and Pakistan would become friendly countries and progress together in the future.
