MUMBAI – Indian actor Dilip Shankar, associated with the Malayalam film industry, was found dead at a hotel room.
The local media reported that Dilip Shankar’s body was discovered on Sunday in a hotel room in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
Dilip had checked into the hotel on December 19, and during his stay, he never left his room.
Dilip’s fellow actors tried to reach out to him, but when they couldn’t get in touch, they went to the hotel on Sunday and asked the staff to open his room. When the room was opened, they found the actor dead.
According to reports, Dilip Shankar was in the city for shooting of a television series.
The director of the show informed the police that Dilip had been suffering from a serious illness, though the nature of the illness was unknown. However, it was believed that he had been undergoing treatment for it.
The police started an investigation, and the initial inquiries suggested that there is nothing unusual about the actor’s death.
The police said that, at this point, there are no signs of foul play or unnatural factors. The exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem.
