LAHORE – Former prime minister and PTI chief Imran Khan announced to lead an election campaign rally in the Punjab capital on Sunday (tomorrow) at 2 pm, in an open show of defiance as the incumbent government continues to book PTI chief in scores of cases.
In his televised address to the nation, the populist leader called on his supporters and workers to participate in Sunday’s rally in connection with election campaign, as the country of over 220million is heading toward general elections.
Taking a jibe at the Punjab caretaker setup and police over the death of PTI worker Ali Bilal, famously known as Zille Shah, Khan raised several questions. He announced to hit the streets to give a message to concerned quarters that we are not domesticated animals.
He warned that the Sharif-led government is making desperate moves to run away from upcoming elections, and recalled his claim of another attempt on his life ahead of the elections. These people want me dead as they are afraid of the sea of people, but vowed to fight till the last drop of blood.
PTI chief then dialed his tirade against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, calling him an ‘absconder’ who according to him is directing government while sitting in London.
Speaking further, he slammed the Naqvi-led government for downplaying Zille Shah’s death and urged the Lahore High Court to form a judicial commission to reveal the facts. Ali Bilal was ‘tortured in custody, Khan said, adding that he could not believe what law enforcers did to a special person.
