Inspector General of Sindh Police, GhulamNabiMemon, chaired a crucial meeting focused on the Police Station Record Management System (PSRMS) for the Hyderabad, ShaheedBenazirabad, and Mirpurkhas divisions at the Central Police Office in Karachi. During the meeting, DIGs from these divisions provided briefings on crime registration. GhulamNabiMemon announced plans to allocate a suitable budget for police stations in the upcoming fiscal year.
“The objective of this allocation is to make police stations financially independent,” he stated. He directed that all head clerks undergo accounting/DDO courses to enhance their financial management skills. Emphasizing the importance of addressing serious crimes, Memon instructed a relentless crackdown on drug mafias and the arrest of fugitive and proclaimed offenders. “We must use our full strength to bring the unapprehend accused in various cases to justice,” he asserted.
Highlighting the significance of crime data registration in PSRMS, he said, “By entering crime/criminal data into PSRMS, we are essentially preparing for the future fight against crime.” Memon stressed the importance of resolving murder cases, urging officers to treat them as challenges and policy priorities. “We need to take stringent measures to discourage criminal activity,” he remarked.
The IG Sindh emphasized the deployment of diligent, hardworking, and capable officers at police stations. He warned of strict disciplinary action against officers failing to implement the policy of free FIR registration.
Furthermore, Memon called for the establishment of a model police station in each district, staffed with friendly and courteous personnel. The meeting was attended in person by DIGs of Headquarters and IT, while DIGs from Hyderabad, ShaheedBenazirabad, and Mirpurkhas joined via video link.
