RIYADH – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced support for Palestinian State, condemning Israeli aggression in a powerful address at the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh.
The premier called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in war-torn Gaza, a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel, and the immediate lifting of the blockade on Gaza to allow vital humanitarian aid to reach tens of thousands in dire need.
PM termed humanitarian crisis as beyond imagination, expressing deep concern over continued suffering of Palestinian civilians, including widespread destruction of homes, loss of life, and the ongoing devastation of families.
“How long can the world ignore hospitals being bombed, with women clutching the lifeless bodies of their infants?” he asked, emphasizing the need for immediate international action.
Prime Minister Sharif also urged adoption of UNGA’s emergency resolution, which follows the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
He described IDF’s actions in Gaza genocidal, and raised continued supply of advanced weapons to Israel despite widespread calls for a ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian assistance. “Israel has been emboldened by the world’s indifference,” he stated, accusing the international community of turning a blind eye to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Sharif called for establishment of free and independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders. He called this the only viable path to justice and lasting peace in the region.
He further condemned Israel’s recent military actions against Tehran, calling it as an outright violation of Iranian sovereignty, and voiced strong opposition to Israel’s ongoing aggression against Lebanon.
Prime Minister also urged Muslim Ummah to unite and stand resolutely with the people of Palestine in the face of continued Israeli aggression. “We must not let this systematic genocide and aggression continue,” he stressed, calling on the Muslim world to take collective action to address the crisis in Gaza.
