Heatwaves likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sindh from May 21 to May 27

KARACHI – Heatwaves will likely develop in Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures from May 21 to May 23.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), heatwaves will intensify to severe heatwaves with 06 to 08°C above normal temperatures from May 23 to May 27.

As per the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave prevails over the upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during the next 24 hours.

Under these conditions, hot and dry weather is expected in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts of Sindh on Sunday evening/night, Monday and Tuesday. Gusty winds/windstorms are expected during afternoons.

In Karachi, the maximum temperatures will likely stay between 37-39°C on Monday and 38-40°C on Tuesday.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperatures will likely stay between 44-46°C on Monday and 45-47°C on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Karachi, Hyderabad and most districts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Nawabshah remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 44 per cent.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 per cent.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 45°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 34 per cent.
