Galiyat Tahafaz Movement (GTM) while strongly opposing the official Forest Extraction Campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared great threat to not only to environment but will badly effect the depletion of the green wealth of the country and had demanded the provincial government to intervene in the matter with early action.

Briefing newsmen here on Tuesday, Chairman Galiyat Tahafaz Movement (GTM) Sardar Muhammad Sabir has sounded the alarm on the severe ecological repercussions of ongoing forest extraction campaign in Hazara & especially in Galiyat. He claimed that GTM a civil society organization is dedicated to the preservation of natural habitats and biodiversity in the Galiyat region vehemently opposes the exploitation of forests and vows to take a stand against it at every available forum.

Sardar Sabir emphasized the critical importance of forests in maintaining the delicate balance of ecosystems, providing essential services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation, and habitat preservation. He underscored that the indiscriminate extraction of forests not only poses a grave threat to biodiversity but also exacerbates environmental degradation, leading to irreversible consequences for future generations.

Expressing grave concerns over the short-sighted approach of prioritizing economic gains over environmental sustainability, GTM chief affirmed that the they will mobilize efforts to raise awareness about the devastating impact of forest extraction.

He stated that the organization will actively engage in advocacy efforts to urge authorities to halt the extraction campaign and instead promote sustainable forest management practices.
