Govt plans to close or privatize 16 institutions out of 29

The government has plan for potential closer or privatization of 16 institutions working under ministry of industry and production while 13 others are being evaluated for public-private partnership models.
These measures were taken under the ministry of industry and production ongoing rightsizing and privatization initiatives. These disclosers were made during a meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production, which held here on Friday at parliament house while Senator Aon Abbas Bappi was on chair.

The meeting was held to update the committee on rightsizing and privatization plans for state-owned institutions under ministry of industry and production.
The committee was informed that a total of 29 institutions are currently affiliated with the Ministry of Industries and Production. Out of these, 16 are under review for potential closure or privatization, while others are being evaluated for public-private partnership models.

As part of the ongoing rightsizing efforts, the government has already made strides in securing cabinet approvals for key decisions and is now focused on reviewing the performance of these institutions over the next six months.
