Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that the PTI government is committed to the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for an enlightened, moderate, and tolerant Pakistan.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the government is determined to make Pakistan a welfare state in the real sense in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-i-Azam and all possible steps are being taken for this purpose.
Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was speaking at a cake cutting ceremony organized to mark the birthday of founder of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah at PHA Rawalpindi. Adviser to CM on Tourism Asif Mehmood, Vice Chairman PHA, Director General PHA and a large number of officers were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Firdous said that the historic struggle of the Muslims of the sub-continent under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah succeeded as a result of which an independent country was achieved. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is endeavoring to transform Pakistan into a model state with prevalence of peace, brotherhood, moderation, patience and protection of minorities’ rights.
While highlighting the importance of media in the progress and development of the country, she said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, good governance, public sector development and public relief programs will be shown to the public through the eyes of media, she added. She asked the media to be constructive critics so that the country could be further developed by taking advantage of their professionalism.
The Special Assistant also wished the Christian community a very happy Christmas and said that all minorities are part and parcel of the Pakistani societal fabric and they are as much patriotic as their Muslim counterparts. She said that the Christian community of Pakistan today stands more integrated and is taking active part in the socio-economic development of country. In the end, Dr Firdous planted a tree in Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country.
HEALTHCARE FACING FUNDS DEARTH
Provision of good quality health services, prevention of diseases and improving Public Health indicators is a very big challenge, even developed countries facing resource constraints for health sector. However, good governance, effective internal control, better operational and strategic policies and target oriented way forward could bring the required results.
This was stated by the Member, Board of Management of Institute of Public Health and former Accountant General Punjab Imran Iqbal while addressing a meeting of the officers of IPH. Dean, IPH. Prof. Dr. Zarfishan Tahir was also present in the meeting. Imran Iqbal asked the officers to present their recommendations /proposal after setting up future operational as well as strategic goals of every wing/department of the institution with risk assessment for improving the performance of IPH. He said that visionary way -forward for the next five to ten years with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), alongwith accountability mechanism should be prepared , BoM would help/ support the administration of IPH for making guidelines and strategic policy for the institute. Dean, IPH, Dr. Zarfishan Tahir was of the view “to run the institute according to its capacity it is essential to resolve the basic issues faced by the IPH”.
