Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq has said by blindly following IMF agenda, the government is burdening the already poverty stricken people with massive taxation and inflation.
In a statement issued from Mansoora on Friday, he rejected the recent rise in petroleum products, demanding the government to take it back and also bring down the prices of the other commodities.
‘We will spread the anti-inflation and unemployment protest movement in every nook and corner of the country until the government controls the inflation and provide relief to the people.’
Sirajul Haq reminded the prime minister his criticism as opposition leader against increase in petroleum levy by former governments, saying now the PTI was following the same pattern under the pressure of the IMF.
He reiterated the PTI, the PML-N and the PPP were the sides of the same coin and they have nothing to do with the welfare of the people.
The government, he added, had set around Rs600 billion budget revenue target from petroleum levy and aimed at collecting Rs30 taxes on every liter of petrol.
The government, he said, should control the non-developmental expenditure, end corruption in institutions, introduce good governance and act against different mafias who were making billions of rupees by sucking the blood of poor people.
The JI chief said the unemployment and inflation made the life of a common man miserable as small business were closed down and earning opportunities from the market had almost vanished.
