Government siding with doctors in PIC case: Yasmin

Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid while reviewing the PIC incident has said that government is siding with the doctors that became victim of torture.
She added that government would provide financial assistance after estimating the damage caused to government properties and doctors’ vehicles. She was presiding over a meeting held to review the PIC situation.
No one can be allowed to attack hospitals, she emphasized. The minister reiterated her support to the doctors’ community and strongly condemned the vandalism at the PIC.
The attacking lawyers have challenged the writ of the government by stopping the treatment of patients. All the criminals involved in attack on the PIC will be brought to justice, she maintained.
Attacking the doctors is highly condemnable. I and other ministers were made victim of torture and we are standing with the doctors’ community. he doctors and patients will be provided complete protection in the government hospitals, she concluded. Additional Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, MS PIC Dr. Muhammad Ameer, Chief Cardiologist Dr. Saqib Shafi and faculty members attended the meeting.
Moreover, Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat Thursday urged doctors and lawyers not to allow occurrence of Punjab Institute of Cardiology like incident in future.
In a statement issued here, he lamented Wednesday’s incident, saying it was not win of anyone, but the innocent patients suffered a lot. Raja Basharat said that patriotic lawyers and doctors should keep a close eye on the black sheep in their ranks and also identify them who are bringing a bad name to the entire community.
He said that Wednesday’s incident was watched by all sections of society as disgusting. Therefore, our educated class should always be patient, he added. He said that the government was taking action against the miscreants, who took the law into their own hands. Provincial Minister for Information, Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan Thursday said government would not to spare the lawyers involved in yesterday’(Wednesday) attack on the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and the government would set an example for those who tried to take the law into their own hands.
Talking to private news channel, he said the government cannot allow anyone to take the law into their own hands. Those who tried to, will be held accountable soon.
Police has registered an FIR against almost 250 lawyers who on Wednesday attacked government-run Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore. He said we will identified all those black sheep in lawyers’ department who were involved in the recent inhuman act, adding, through electronic media footage we will point out all.
Chohan said that the government will register an FIRs against all those who were responsible for the violence and give them exemplary punishments.
Replying to a Question, he said, I was instructed by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar from Islamabad to visit the hospital and play a mediatory role between the two sides.
