Ghotki police arrest suspect in journalist’s murder case

Under the directives of SSP Ghotki, Dr. Sameer Noor Channa, Ghotki police have intensified their operations against criminals in the region. In a significant breakthrough, police arrested one of the suspects involved in the murder of journalist Muhammad BachalGhaneo, recovering the murder weapon in the process. The journalist was fatally shot on August 27 in the Noor Shah area within the jurisdiction of Shaheed Deen Muhammad Laghari Police Station, allegedly by members of his own community.

Following the incident, a case was registered at the Shaheed Deen Muhammad Laghari Police Station under Crime No. 68/2024, including charges under sections 302, 114, 148, 149, 337H2 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. SSP Ghotki promptly formed a special team led by DSP Abad Hafiz Abdul QadirChachar, along with SHO Abdul ShakoorLakho and IT team members, to apprehend the suspects.

The team conducted multiple raids and successfully arrested Shaukat, son of QadirBuxGhaneo, who was found with the weapon used in the murder. The suspect, ShaukatGhaneo, was one of the eight individuals involved in the killing and had fled the scene immediately after the crime. Interrogation of the arrested suspect is currently underway, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining fugitives. The police are committed to bringing all those involved in this heinous act to justice swiftly.
