Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khalid Khurshid, led a Pakistani delegation at the closing ceremony of a festival in Kashgar. The festival was attended by Governor of Xinjiang, senior officials from the Chinese government, and delegations from 20 countries. Along with the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, the Pakistani delegation included the Provincial Minister of Tourism, Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Provincial Minister of Water and Power, Provincial Minister of Law, and Provincial Minister of Local Government. The festival was organized by the Ministry of Commerce China and the Kashgar Administrative Committee.
Addressing the festival, Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid emphasized the strong friendship between Pakistan and China. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for their assistance during the recent floods in Pakistan, highlighting the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for Pakistan’s geographical importance. He stated that Pakistan takes pride in its friendship with China. Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid also highlighted the opportunities in sectors such as hydroelectricity, agriculture, tourism, and minerals in Gilgit-Baltistan, inviting Chinese investors to explore investment opportunities in the region. He mentioned that Gilgit-Baltistan has the capacity to generate more than 40,000 megawatts of electricity through hydropower and emphasized the potential for collaboration with China in agriculture, minerals, and hydroelectricity, utilizing China’s advanced technologies.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid pledged to foster strong cooperation and provide facilities to Chinese investors. He extended an invitation to Governor of Xinjiang and Chinese investors to visit Gilgit-Baltistan. Prior to his speech, the Secretary of the Kashgar Committee, Niexzuang, warmly welcomed Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid.
