Maulana Fazlur Rehman, president and head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and Jamiat Ulema-e Islam- Fazl (JUI-F), has said that if a case was registered against him the minister concerned will have to go home within 72 hours. It is being said that if anyone speaks against the army, the case will be registered against him. He was of the view that it was not so easy to file a case. He warned that if the army interfere in politics, he will publically say, “You are violating your oath”.
He expressed condolences to JUI leader Jamal Abdul Nasr at Jamia Madrasa Osmania on the demise of his mother. We do not want to make any difference in the respect and sanctity of the army. We also respect the entire journalist community. “The spirit with which we are fighting should show that you have stolen votes and we are openly rebelling against your government. We are Husseini.” And you are a Yazidi. On the question about the cancellation of Nawaz Sharif’s passport, he said that he has left Pakistan on medical grounds, the passports have been canceled before, you should not ask Nawaz Sharif but ask about the fact that Pervez Musharraf is a fugitive, these are the two lines that are your attitude towards the three-time Prime Minister of the country while the other is the one who was convicted of sedition by the court. He added, Don’t run the country in this way, the law should be equal for all.
To another question about the Ansar-ul-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that it was a sign of his bewilderment and fear that a bona-fide organization comprising on volunteers and they had praised the same organization in the past. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is a registered party and every organization has a voluntary organization but if you can’t find anything to humiliate a party then you should know that we have declared war, what you have to declare war against us, your law will be helpless, I will respect the law that will protect me.
