Expo vaccination center a world’s largest one: Tarar

Relief Commissioner Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Babar Hayat Tarar said that Expo Center Lahore Covid-19 Vaccination Center is the world largest vaccination center where 20,000 people can be vaccinated in a day.

The PDMA is providing facility of vaccination centers in all districts of Punjab including Lahore which will be expanded to tehsil level in the coming days.

With the increase in the number of beneficiaries of the facility, the number of vaccination centers is also being increased.

In the next few days, more vaccination centers will be set up in Minar-e-Pakistan and other areas of the city.

The Punjab government primary focus on vaccination is the most deserving and vulnerable. The scope of vaccination will be gradually extended to people under 60 years of age.

Relief Commissioner Punjab Babar Tarar talking to the media during his visit to Covid-19 Vaccination Center at Lahore Expo Center Friday said that vaccination of people over the age of 50 will also be possible in the next four to five weeks.

More than 45,000 people have been vaccinated at the Lahore Expo Center so far. Vaccination of all citizens is essential to protect against the epidemic.

Babar Hayat said that research on covid-19 vaccine was underway. It is hoped that soon there will be a vaccine that will not need to be repeated.

Initially, the vaccination centers will be kept open for 6 months, after which the period will be extended as required.

Responding to questions, Babar Hayat said the feedback of the people who came to the Expo Center for vaccination was a proof that the best vaccination facilities were being provided in the center. The government is providing funds under the PDMA for Punjab Vaccine Centers.

All other agencies including Commissioner Lahore, City District Government, Civil Defense, Rescue 1122 and Primary Health Department are working together under Punjab Disaster Management Authority.

He mentioned that Director General Punjab Disaster Management will also provide monitoring services to vaccination centers along with DC Lahore in the coming days.

The Relief Commissioner also expressed satisfaction over the increasing seriousness of the people for vaccination.

Replying to a question, the he said that persons below 60 years of age traveling abroad can avail the benefits of the private sector.

He said that during the first and second wave of Corona in Pakistan, Pakistan’s performance in epidemic protection was much better than other countries.

The third wave of corona increased the death rate. To control the death rate, it is necessary for the citizens to take precautionary measures and avail the free vaccination facility provided by the Punjab government.

The Expo Corona Vaccine Center has so far registered 12,000 people. Apart from this, the facility of vaccination is also being provided to those who come on the spot and register themselves.

The Punjab government will also start vaccination at Punjab Kidney and Liver Transplantation Institute, Tehsil Shalimar in the next one and half months.

It will also set up vaccination centers in Model Town to provide vaccination to people under the age of 60.
