ECC approves Rs1b for Covid-19 advertisements

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, Friday, a technical supplementary grant regarding allocation of funds amounting to one billion rupees for launching advertisement campaigns by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB) to inform and educate people particularly during the third wave of COVID-19 for the public good.

ECC met here with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair and approved the technical supplementary grant for MOIB.

Funds under the grant will be spent on advertisement campaign likely by the launched by Ministry of Inforamtion and Broadcasting to highlight government’s measures to create mass awareness against the Covid 19.

It is worth mentioning here that the ECC had aready approved a new loan criteria for applicants of the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority and allowed the construction of housing units in partnership of private sector.

Under first phase, one hundred thousand housing units will be constructed by the end of current year.

ECC had directed Power Division to hold further deliberations on the issue of fuel price adjustment as well as late payment surcharge for fertilizer producing units in electricity bills.

The meeting also approved technical supplementary grants for various ministries and divisions; a technical grant of Rs 61 million was approved for feasibility study of Peshawar-Jalalabad Rail Link project.
