Like in the rest of the country, 75th Independence Day, the Diamond Jubilee of Independence, was celebrated in Sialkot City on Sunday with traditional national spirit and fervor. Scores of the national flag hoisting and birthday cake cutting ceremonies were held all across the city by a number of government institutions and private socio-political organizations.

The main national flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Anwaar Club Auditorium in which the Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) member provincial assembly (MPA) Ch Muhammad Ikhlaq, ex-Special Assistant to Prime Minister Usman Dar and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) minister Hafiz Hamid Raza, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sialkot Mesam Abbas, the District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Zeshan Raza and others participated.

After the national flag hoisting, the national anthem was sung and then students from different local educational institutions expressed their love for their country and paid rich homage to the heroes of the Pakistan Movement by national songs, speeches and tableaus.

A contingent of the District Police and the Civil Defense officials offered salute to the national flag. While addressing the ceremony MPA Ch Muhammad Ikhlaq, Usman Dar, DC Mesam Abbas, DPO Syed Zeshan Raza and others said that emergence of Pakistan out of the sub-continent was a great blessing of God Almighty for the Muslims of the region. They said that each member of the nation had to quite honestly play his part in order to further strengthen Pakistan and earn a respectful place for her in the world.

They also praised the high spirit of the younger generation in achieving progress and prosperity for their home land in the times to come. Later on, many saplings were planted in the lawns of the Anwaar Club Auditorium by the prominent participants of the ceremony and then special prayers were offered for the national progress and prosperity.
