ISLAMABAD – Pakistan-China cooperation to boost agriculture, manufacturing and regional trade under Second Phase of flagship China–Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal revealed plans for second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), saying new corridors will promote growth, innovation, sustainability, livelihood, and regional connectivity.

The announcement came during a ceremony at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, where Iqbal, alongside Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, presented awards to staff members for their outstanding contributions to the success of CPEC.

He praised exceptional efforts of both Pakistani and Chinese personnel working on the initiative, stressing the importance of recognizing their commitment and teamwork, which have been key to the success of the bilateral collaboration between the Iron friends.

Minister highlighted multi-billion dollar project represents symbol of deep and enduring ties between Islamabad and Beijing, fostering not only economic cooperation but also strengthening people-to-people relationships and strategic partnerships. He also commended the employees for their roles in a wide range of projects that have significantly boosted Pakistan’s economy, created jobs, and improved living standards.

Reflecting on achievements of CPEC’s first phase, Minister shared that 43 projects, worth approximately $25 billion, have been completed. These include 17 energy projects that have added 8,800 MW to Pakistan’s national grid, two coal mines, and a +660 kV HVDC transmission line.

The mega project created approximately 2lac direct jobs, with substantial potential for indirect employment, and next phase will focus on expanding business-to-business cooperation in manufacturing, agriculture, minerals, Gwadar Port, and the free zone.
