COP28 Dubai’ summit to come up with positive results for countries affected by global warming: CG UAE

The United Arab Emirates Consul General for Karachi Mr Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi has said that the UAE will continue to advance bilateral ties with Pakistan in all spheres including diplomatic, economic, trade, investment, cultural, defence and people-to-people relations.

The co-operation and facilitation by the UAE government for investment projects in Pakistan aim at further strengthening brotherly relations between the two Islamic countries,” said Mr Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi during a meeting with Chairman & CEO of Pakistan Observer Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik who called on him at the UAE consulate.

The CG of the UAE welcomed Mr Faisal Zahid Malik at the consulate and discussed matters related to bilateral trade, Israel’s military aggression in Palestine and above all the COP28 UN summit being held in Dubai.

The world community would surely provide a sizable portion of the global budget meant for tackling the climate emergency in Pakistan owing to the massive destruction caused by events like floods, heavy rains, and heat waves, the CG said while commenting on the global climate summit commencing in his country from Nov 30, Thursday (today).

The summit, he said aims to address the climate crisis by agreeing on ways to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

He assured that that the UAE rulers would fully support Pakistan’s case in this regard as they had always come to the support of the Pakistanis affected by climate adversities.

Mr Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi the CG of UAE during the warm welcome to Mr Faisal Malik said that Pakistan had vast scope in agriculture and both the countries would discover new opportunities to grow Pakistani crops and cooperation in twinning experiences between the two countries.

The CG UAE further highlighted Pakistan and the UAE in a range of areas including investment cooperation in the sectors of energy, port operations projects, waste water treatment, food security, logistics, mining, aviation, and banking and financial services.

While thanking the UAE CG for warm welcome, Chairman & CEO of Pakistan Observer Mr Faisal Zahid Malik said “Pakistan and the UAE enjoy warm and long-standing fraternal ties that have stood multiple tests of time.”

He also commended the support of the UAE government for the people of Pakistan saying, “the UAE has always stood beside Pakistan in hour of need.” Faisal Malik further recalled with gratitude the support of that UAE Red Crescent and Sheikh Khalifa Organization for the resources extended for the flood affected people in Pakistan. “UAE’s diplomatic and economic cooperation with Pakistan is getting stronger with the passage of time,” Faisal Malik added.

He also congratulated the UAE CG on the recent conferment of the Doctorate Degree.

During his visit to the UAE consulate in Karachi, the CG Mr Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi presented the chairman Pakistan Observer a shield as a token of great friendship between the two brotherly countries.
