COMSATS varsity’s registrar passes away due to Covid-19; FPSC building under radar after 10 cases reported

Registrar of the COMSATS University Dr Moizud Din Khan passed away on Wednesday due to coronavirus. He is the latest casualty of the second wave of novel coronavirus that has gripped the country and is stated to have returned to Pakistan with a vengeance this time.
According to close friends and colleagues of the professor, he had contracted virus two weeks ago and last week was admitted to a private hospital after he felt difficulty in breathing. The university’s registrar office is already closed due to coronavirus and the health authorities are monitoring the situation closely, said a university official.
Meanwhile, the District Health Officer (DHO) has written to the District Administration for closure of the premises of the Federal Public Service Commission’s (FPSC) office located on Agha Khan Road, F-51 as ten employees/staff members were reported to have contracted coronavirus there.
According to a notification issued by DHO Dr Zaeem Zia, the office of the FPSC is hereby sealed with immediate effect and until further orders.
The District Health Officer has also directed disinfection as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of National Health Services for coronavirus. Besides, in the letter, the DHO has directed testing of all the employees/staff exposed to coronavirus or in contact with the infected cases.
Meanwhile, the DHO has also ordered closure of seven more institutions, schools and colleges, under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
